This afternoon, the Women's Legislative Caucus held its annual Easter Basket drive at the Capitol. Headed by Rep. Marilyn Lee, the program has been running for more than a decade. This year, the WLC teamed up with the Institute for Human Services to collect "Welcome Home Baskets" to benefit homeless shelter clients.
More than 100 colorful baskets were donated by individuals from throughout the community. The baskets contained basic household items including dishes, pots & pans, utensils, and toiletries.
Reps. Della Au Bellati, Corinne Ching, Heather Giugni, Chris Lee, Silvia Luke, Dee Morikawa, Barbara Marumoto, Mark "the Easter Bunny" Takai, Cynthia Thielen, and Sen. Rosalyn Baker were instrumental to the success of the drive.
