Hawaii remembers Janel Tupuola, Cyrus Belt and other domestic violence victims

Moms, dads and kids lit candles and whispered personal prayers tonight at the Capitol in remembrance of Hawaii's domestic violence victims.

Hawaii residents joined Rep. John Mizuno, Sen. Suzanne Chun Oakland, co-chairs of the Keiki Caucus, along with Rep. Karen Awana and former Rep. Dennis Arakaki in a silent march around the Capitol, State Library and Iolani Palace, ending with a prayer and lighting ceremony.

The family and friends of Janel Tupuola and Cyrus Belt were present. Janel's father reminded those in attendance that this isn't only about the recent tragic events; it's about domestic violence in Hawaii and it needs to stop.

Good job, T. The aerial photos really show just how many people attended tonight's very important march. Thanks for sharing.

Alapeti Tunoa should be sentenced to the death penalty, and should be kept locked up; and away from society. He's a violent, evil person; A REAL MENACE TO SOCIETY!

The death penalty to too kind of a punishment for such a hideous and violent crime!

Ya know, That was a very violent way to die. It was a typical case of "If I can't have her, then no one else will". How pathetic. Couldn't the system detect that this Tunoa character was a danger to society from early on? And the cops...where are those dudes when you actually need them?

This incident was another example of how Hawaii needs to pass a law that permits citizens to carry firearms. Just think, if there was at least one witness at the scene standing by with a gun, the incident would have probably ended with a better outcome.

It would have probably saved Janel's life and at the same time exterminate the nuts boyfriend (Tunoa) and thus, bypassing the judicial system and saving taxpayers money instead of putting Tunoa on trial. Easy as that. Kinda like bugspray. When you see a roach...what do you do?

Yes, it is easy to understand why the witnesses (who were at the scene) were terrified. Why? because Tunoa was toting a GUN and using it to blugeon this beautiful girl to death. My heart goes out to her family and to anyone who had known her.

There are a lot of other things that I would like to say about this incident, however, I shall close my little entry by saying...check out www.ronpaul2008.com Thank yooz-noeltheshemale

Everyone is entitled to there opinion, but as a friend of Alapeti knowing the circumstances, the pain he felt of not being able to see his children I beg to differ...Janel was no angel, she was bipolar and if you all knew the things she said and did then you would know why Alapeti did what he did...he's not your average Joe he's straight gangster, and she knew what he was capable of and she pushed him to the edge. I'm not saying that murder was the answer, but people like him can only be nice to a point...before they break.

All of these murders were linked to crystal meth...that is the problem that is ruining families & our islands.
