Rep. Roy Takumi co-sponsors free event to
foster discussion on teaching
The education
documentary, “Most Likely to Succeed,” will be screened on Thursday, Sept. 15
at 6 p.m. in the State Capitol basement auditorium.
Rep. Roy Takumi and
the Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation are co-sponsoring the free event which
will include a small group discussion following the showing of the film.
Directed by documentarian Greg Whiteley, the
film has been an official selection of two dozen of the world’s top film
festivals including the Sundance Film Festival. The film looks at what students and teachers
are capable of—if we have the vision and courage to transform our schools.
The event is meant to foster meaningful
discussion among educators, administrators, parents and students about how
current obstacles can be overcome and steps towards change can be taken on a
local level.
This event is open to the public. Please visit
mltsfilm.org for more information about the film and the
movement.
