House Congratulates 2007 Grammy Winners

Today, the legislature congratulated the artists and producers who participated in the production of Legends of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar-Live from Maui, the winner of the 49th Annual Grammy award for Best Hawaiian Music Album of the Year. Rep. Mele Carroll introduced the resolution, which can be viewed online here.


Reps Carroll and John Mizuno got a chance to hold the Grammy.

Legendary Eddie Pu honored by Legislature

Rep. Joe Bertram (District 11 - Makena, Wailea, Kihei) presented fellow Maui resident Eddie Pu with a certificate of recognition for a lifetime of contributions as a park ranger, life guard and spiritual and cultural leader.

Pu, who is in his 70s, is perhaps most famous for his yearly 200-mile trek around the island of Maui on foot. He has been doing the every year for the last 30 years.

The 2006 Hawaii State Legislature passed HB 1955 which was signed into law as Act 158 by Governor Lingle. It increases the mandatory fines for littering violations, including littering from a motor vehicle, littering in public, and criminal littering. You can help in alleviating the waste in our neighborhoods and landfills in the following ways:

House lawmakers pose with members of a delegation from Beijing who arrived with the China Blue-sky Children's Arts Troupe. The delegation was specially selected by the Chinese government to promote the 2008 Beijing Olympics around the world.

The Blue-sky dancers performed traditional Chinese cultural dances...
